"How To Make A Laptop Cooler In About An Hour And A Half"
F.Y.I.
This hack is NOT meant to look pretty, it's purely meant to experiment
and/or make a nearly free laptop cooler
i originaly came up with the plan of making this when i was playing halo on my
iBook and it decided it wanted to overheat after a few hours of nonstop playing of the game
You will need:
a cardoboard box
leatherman
DUCT TAPE
and some sort of a fan...
this is the fan i intend on using and somehow don't remember how i aquired it *shrugs*
I cut a piece of cardboard just a little bigger than my laptop so it would have some overlap.
Keep in mind that i left some extra space on every side so i could adjust it later
so the plane of the surface would feel right and be able to fit my fan in the back
(THINK AHEAD!)
That is me seing if i cut the cardboard the right length to put the fan inside
and figuring out which angle should mount the fan
I traced where I wanted the fan outlet to be placed and got out my knife...it's about damn time =)
the fan in place and ready to be TAPED to become stationary =P
hehehe... TAPE!!!
after i finished with the fan i cut out 2 or 3 (your decision) supports to keep the top piece of the cooler from sagging
all i'm gonna say about this pic is that i couldn't find my soldering iron =(
sides have been sealed up... u may have to cut a hole in the side of the unit
to allow more air flow when your done, but do that last if u have to
i thought it would be smart to add a folded piece of cardboard near the bottom to keep
my comp from sliding right off of it
Once I was praticaly done I cut out the main holes so he bottom of my iBook would be revealed
to the flowing air (yes i'm explaining it very thoroughly)
it works! keeps my iBook about 20 degrees(F) cooler!
